Las primeras biopel\u00edculas se visualizaron a trav\u00e9s de un microscopio confocal y se pudo comprobar que las biopel\u00edculas no son solo capas de bacterias, sino comunidades funcionales coordinadas.\n\nBiopel\u00edcula se le conoce a la acumulaci\u00f3n de bacterias que han quedado adheridas a superficies s\u00f3lidas u otro tipo de superficies como la mucosa digestiva, el tracto respiratorio, piezas dentales o equipos de hospitales. Como parte de este objetivo se implementa un Sistema de inocuidad que contempla, entre otras cosas, pr\u00e1cticas y procedimientos de limpieza y sanitizaci\u00f3n, que tienen el objetivo de eliminar suciedad y microorganismos, respectivamente.\n\nLas biopel\u00ed\u00adculas son estructuras tan resistentes, que los procesos de limpieza y sanitizaci\u00f3n rutinarios no son suficientes para eliminarlas.
